Whole Story Package: Birth (part 2 of 3)

This is the Birth Story for the Reed Family, some of the awesome Whole Story Clients that I was blessed to work with in 2018.

Fair warning, these birth photos just might make you cry. I cried photographing the birth, editing the gallery, delivering them, and now as I add them to the blog and go through them again, I’m crying! All of the emotions.

The birth: From the minute I arrived to the minute I left the birth, Brandon & Katie were a united front. Katie labored like a champion. I was in awe of her perseverance through each contraction. She’s a boss. Papa Brandon was praying and encouraging his wife every minute. Brandon brought journals filled with letters and verses about his and Katie’s story together. He read them during some of the earlier contractions.
Since their fur-baby couldn’t be with them, he surprised Katie with a look-a-like of Ruby in the hospital room (hence the plush pup you see in a few photos). After baby arrived, Katie gifted her hubby with a watch- the same brand that she gifted him with on their wedding day. I can’t even…basically we were all sobbing messes at this point.

With the extra love and support of their amazing Doula, Ashley, this family invited their first son earth-side. I think the photos will tell you just how excited they were, and how emotional and joyful welcoming Baby Cooper into the world was.

Birth Story: Baby Mackenzie

I have never been to a birth that has gone exactly like the one before. Every birth experience is different from another. However, there are two things that happen at every birth I am honored to attend: 

1. I inevitably cry.

2: Love is present.

The second I sat with Grace at Starbucks for our initial meetup, I knew it was going to be a ton of fun to work together. I feel like I could have talked with her for hours. We seemed to connect from the start and her excitement for having this birth photographed made me even more excited.

Weeks later, I met her and her husband bright and early at the hospital, where they welcomed their second baby girl. This is where I have to mention a first for me: When I was putting on the scrubs, my pants kept falling down. Well, not my actual pants; my scrub pants! I may or may not have had to create tape-suspenders to hold them up. At least it made for some good laughs, and I learned how to make tape-suspenders in a pinch.

After a peaceful delivery, Baby Mackenzie arrived, Mom and Dad were overjoyed, we were all emotional, and Big Sister got to meet Little Sister.

It was an honor to witness this baby girl's birth, and the love that is so, so evident among this family. Can't you tell that Big Sister was smitten with her Little Sister?

Birth Story: Welcome Baby A

This mama was a warrior. Three weeks before the estimated due date, I got the call from Jenna. It was happening. Thankfully, I had just met with her two days earlier for a pre-birth consultation. I asked what her main goal was for her labor. She told me that she wanted to have her daughter without pain medication. I am happy to say that she accomplished her goal, and had a very healthy baby girl after a speedy delivery. 

Here is just a glimpse into the day that this sweet girl was born into the world...
